Amphoe Chiang Saen in Chiang Rai to Bo Keaw:- In a historic town on the banks of the Mekong River in Chiang Rai, the archaeological remains indicate that Chiang Saen was a significant site of prehistoric human settlement. Ancient walls, trenches, fortifications, bridges, temples and other relics of the ancient kingdom of Chiang Saen extended across the Great Chiang Saen

Amphoe Chiang Khong in Chiang Rai to Huai Sai:- The small, peaceful districts of Chiang Rai and Chiang Khong are one of the most popular gateways to Laos. The border crossing is made from Buck pier to Huai Sai in Laos. Excellent cruises on the Mekong River depart from Buck pier where visitors are able to rent boats to Luang Prabang, Chiang Saen and the Golden Triangle.

Mukdahan to Savannakhet: - Mukdahan is one of four border control checkpoints to Laos. The second Friendship Bridge, completed in December 2006 provides an overland link to Savannakhet, with a chance to experience the tranquil countryside of Laos. Mukdahan, once a part of the province Nakhon Phanom, is a land of fantastic natural rock formations, known for its sweet tamarind fruit.
