South Thailand Mu Ko Similan National Park

Similan is a Yawi or Malay word. It means nine or a group of nine islands. Similan is a small group of islands, comprising of nine islands stretching from North to South.

Location

Located in Ko Phra Thong, Amphoe Khura Buri, occupying an area of 32,000 acres

Direction

By boat: Take a boat from Thap Lamu Pier, located 70 km North of Phang-nga at Amphoe Thai Mueang

Highlights

Ko Similan or Ko Paet: the largest island in this group of islands with a distinctive horseshoe-shaped bay
Ko Ba-ngu: the ninth island of the Similan group of islands with a strange feature
Ko Huyong: the island with the whitest and longest beach of all nine islands
Ko Miang: the second largest island among the nine islands after Similan Island, which offers a scenic beach that is suitable for camping and is where the office of the National Park located
