Having a variety of natural wonders, cultural and historical attractions, Ubon Ratchathani is a well established community for hundreds of years. Pha Taem National Park invite visitors to view magnificent scenery from top of the cliff and pre-historical cave paintings dated 3000 years back. Among the other attractions include Kaeng Tana National Park and the Bi-colored River, where two rivers join to show the reddish brown color of Mekong River and blue from Mun River. Apart from the nature, Ubon Ratchathani is also renowned for its ancient Buddhist tradition and temples, such as Wat Tung Sri Muang, Wat Supatanaram, Wat Nong Bua, and Wat Pa Nanachat. The procession of delicately carved beeswax candle at the Candle Festival held in July is the major event that attracts tourist to this province.
Yasothon
Yasothan is full of cultural heritage and people who have a strong belief in Buddhism. Among its various cultural sites Wat Mahathat houses Phra That Yasothon is a much-visited Lao-style chedi that enshrines holy relics of Phra Ananda, one of main disciples of Lord Buddha. Another famous place is Phra That Kong Khao Noi, an ancient Khmer chedi with revered brick, decorative plaster work and an interesting history. Visitors can observe the making of the famous Thai-styled triangular pillows at Ban Si Than village.
