The history of Roi Et goes back to the era of Khmer Empire. Roi Et has a great cultural heritage and many temples. The symbol of Roi Et is Bueng Phlan Chai, which is a lake that has a large walking Buddha standing on a small island in its center. Wat Buraphaphiram features a Buddha of 68-meter, with a staircase that enables visitors to climb to knee-high level. The main shopping attractions that the visitors can buy as a souvenir is I-San Khaen, a panpide made of wood and reeds.
Sakon Nakhon
Filled with lakes and rivers, Sakon Nakhon offers a unique landscape which differs to the rest of the Northeast. Nong Han Lake, the largest natural lake of the Northeast, offers stunning views of the natural environment .Phu Phan National park features some well-maintained hiking trails through its mountains and waterfalls with a variety of birdlife. Temple attractions include Wat Phra That Choeng Chum, Wat Pa Suthawat, and Wat Phra That Narai Cheng Weng.
Si Sa Ket
A tranquil province on the Cambodian border, Si Sa Ket is full of Khmer ruins scattered throughout the area. Most notable are the two ruined sanctuaries of Wat Sa Kamphaeng Yai and Wat Sa Kamphaeng Noi. Both of them are ancient Buddhist temples that illustrate the prosperity and richness of Khmer in the past through its architectural style. A trip to Mor E-Dang cliff on the border enables visitor to enjoy one of the best bird watching point in the Northeast.
