With a history of several thousand years, Nakhon Phanom is a melting pot of diverse ethnic cultures and traditions, especially of the Lao culture. A trip to Nakhon Phanom would not be considered as completed if visitors did not go to Phra That Phanom, the most sacred and ancient religious monument of the Northeast. Visitors can experience the unique combination of Thai and Lao culture at Renu Nakhon which is famous for the Bai Si Su Kwan ceremony as well as silks and cottons production.
Nakhon Ratchasima
Thailand’s largest province, Nakhon Ratchasima or Khorat is considered as the gateway to the Northeast. Khmer’s influences can be seen through the superb sanctuary at Phimai Historical Park, and at Ban Prasat where they have unearthed skeletons, artifacts and pottery dated back thousands of years. Another attraction is Khao Yai National Park, which provides hiking trails amid the stunning scenery. Khorat is most well known for silk weaving and clay pottery products of Dan Kwian.
Nong Bua Lam Phu
One of the youngest provinces of Thailand, Nong Bua Lam Phu is a scenic province full of amazing natural wonders. The most famous attraction is the Erawan Cave with a big statue of Buddha in the entrance. Visitors who seek peace and tranquility would love Wat Tham Klong Phen, a serene forest monastery, which is a home who loves meditation. Luang Phu Khao and Phu Kao Phupan Kham National Park has two remarkable sandstone mountains.
