Built in 1383, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep temple is at a distance of 15 km from town and is 3,520 feet above sea level. This mountaintop temple has a Chedi that houses sacred relics of Buddha. Locals would say, You haven’t really gone to Chiang Mai unless you’ve been to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. Truly, the place is the most important and famous Chiang Mai landmark.

Direction

By car: From Chiang Mai city center, drive along Huay Keao Road up the mountain to reach the temple
By minibus: Take minibus (Song Thaew) services available at the foot of the mountain
