Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai is the largest city of North and is one of the oldest cities in the country aging 700 years old. Its magical history, amazing natural wonders, fascinating ways of life, impressive architecture and delicate handicrafts invite visitors to explore the city. Once a capital of ancient Lunna Kingdom, Chiang Mai offers to take visitors on a journey of colorful past through its ornate temples that are present on almost every nook and corner. Some magnificent temples such as Wat Phra Sing which is famous for its Lanna-style architecture, beautiful wood carvings and superb murals. Visitors can enjoy a visit to this city by staying at the elephant camps or trek amidst the magnificent scenery.
Those who love the nature would enjoy a trip to Mae Sa Valley which offer many activities with elephants or visit Doi Inthanon National Park which provides trekking opportunities in the picturesque scenery and waterfalls.
Chiang Mai is also known for its outstanding handicrafts that illustrate their exquisite wood-carvings, Thai silk, silverware, delicate embroidery, and hand-painted umbrellas. Shops are filled with local handicrafts which are still made by traditional methods handed down over generations. Challenging golf courses with stunning background are also available around the city Chiang Mai.
