Visitors to Thailand can now claim back, pay for the purchase of Value Added Tax (VAT) of 7% on items in the Kingdom. The VAT refund can be claimed by any non-Thai visitor who has been in Thailand for less than 180 days in a calendar year, is not a crew member of an airline, and travel in Thailand by air carrier from an international airport: Suvarnabhumi, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai or Phuket. To claim a VAT refund, the visitor must:

Purchase the item(s) within 60 days of departure.
Purchase the item(s) from stores displaying the VAT REFUND FOR TOURISTS sign
On the day of purchase, tourist may present his/her passport and ask the sales assistant to complete the VAT Refund Application for Tourist form (P.P.10) and attach the original tax invoices to the form.
Each P.P.10 form must show a value of 2,000 baht or more, including VAT, at the same store on the same day. The total amount claimed for refund must not be less than 5,000 baht, including VAT.
Before checking in at an international airport, visitors must present their purchases and submit the completed P.P.10 form and original tax invoices to the customs officers for inspection.Tax Refund
Allow adequate time at the airport for the refund process. If visitors do not receive a response to their request for refund by draft or credit within an appropriate period of time, please contact the VAT Refund Office at Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

Note: Valuable goods such as jewelry, gold ornaments, watches, glasses, or pens must be once more inspected by the Revenue officers at the VAT Refund for Tourists Office in the airport departure lounge after passport control.

In case of a refund by bank draft or credit to a credit card account, visitor can either present the claim to revenue officers or drop it into the box at the Refund Counter or mail the claim from his/her home country to the Revenue Department.
