Central Thailand is made up of the vast and fertile basin, fed by several major rivers and uncountable canals. The lavish green areas spread all the way to mountains and the sea on the East Coast. On this wonderful patch of land, there are 26 provinces: Ang Thong, Bangkok, Chachoengsao, Chai Nat, Chanthaburi, Chon Buri, Kanchanaburi, Lop Buri, Nakhon Nayok, Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Phetchaburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Prachin Buri, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Ratchaburi, Rayong, Sa Kaeo, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram, Saraburi, Sing Buri, Suphan Buri and Trat.
Ang Thong
Ang Thong is located on the Noi River and the low lying land of Chao Phraya river. The Ang Thong literally means “The Golden Bowl”. It is famous for its prominent collection of handicrafts such as tiny earthen court dolls, drums, bricks and wickerwork. The place is also the origin of Likae, a favorite folk performance. Ang Thong is abundant with more than 200 magnificent and interesting temples. Wat Chaiya Worawihan is home to a large seated Buddha with a sizeable collection of sacred pieces of jewelry.
Chachoengsao
Chachoengsao, located in the east of Bangkok lies on the Bang Pakong River. It is a scenic spot for boat rides to observe the wholesome riverine lifestyle. The place is abundant with fruits and the river. It is an important source of agricultural products among them mango is the most popular fruit. Phra Phutthasothon, one of the most revered Buddha image in Thailand is enshrined here. Khao Hin Son, a spectacular hill of huge white rocks, is the site of a Royal Development Study Center to study issues ranging from water resources development to animal husbandry.
