Virtually part of greater Bangkok, Samut Prakan is also known as Pak Nam. It is located around the area where the Chao Phraya River flows in to the Gulf of Thailand. Now developed as a major industrial town, Samut Prakan is a home to countless historical and cultural sites. One of the prime attractions is the Ancient city, a beautifully designed Thailand in miniature. A Crocodile Farm with up to 30,000 inhabitants is another major attraction among tourists.
Samut Sakhon
Located at the mouth of the Tha Chin River, Samut Sakhon is a busy fishing center. It is still popularly known as Mahachai, which was its former name. Wat Ratsatthakayaram is where thousands of birds live in peace among the bushes. Wat Chong Lom is a favorite rest area for the locals due to its windy location by the sea. Mahachai Market is one of the Thailand's largest traditional fresh seafood markets. The province is also the biggest producer of brine salt.
Samut Songkhram
Samut Songkhram is the province of fertile land, plants, food grains, vegetables, fruits and a vast variety of seafood products. It is also an interesting historical source for the early Rattanakosin period. The town is situated beside the Mae Klong River, where villagers scramble to collect Hoi Lot (worm shells). There are three floating markets on the outskirts of town and a small village producing traditional five-colored ceramics, Ban Bencharong.
