To the south of Ko Chang, Ko Mak is blessed with beautiful beaches and coral reefs nearby that are still in excellent condition. The islanders make their living from growing rubber and coconut trees.
Location
Located between Ko Chang and Ko Kut, in the Gulf of Thailand, Trat
Direction
By car: From Bangkok, head eastbound on the Bangkok-Chon Buri Motorway, exit at Klaeng via Highway 344, then take Highway No. 3 towards Chanthaburi and Trat, and take the passenger boat from Laem Ngop to Ko Mak
By bus: Take a bus from either Eastern Bus Terminal or Bangkok Bus Terminal to the Trat Bus Terminal, taking 4-6 hours, then continue by minibus to any ferry landings to Ko Chang.
Highlights
Ao Suan Yai: one of the longest and the most beautiful beaches on the island as well as the most wonderful viewpoint of sunset during March till August
Ao Pai: The beach with red color of sand and rock
Ko Kham: a group of black volcano rocks, considered as one of the most natural miracles of the east coast and the main attraction of the island
Koh Rayang Nai and Koh Rayang Nok: a white sandy beach good for laying down, sunbathing and diving around the island
