Kanchanaburi is the third largest province of Thailand after Nakhon Ratchasima and Chiang Mai .It is the last fortress of pristine nature with the majestic Thanon Thongchai Mountain Range, which serves as a natural border between Thailand and Myanmar. The marvelous landscape of Kanchanaburi is a major tourist spot which include several waterfalls, national parks, rivers, and reservoirs. Whether it is fishing, rafting, canoeing, mountain biking, bird-watching, Golfing, jungle trekking, or living in bamboo rafts, Kanchanaburi has all for its guests. It is the location of the Death Railway and the Bridge over the River Khwae, the world’s living memories of World War II. Prasat Muang Sing represents the western outpost of the once powerful Khmer Empire. Its stone ruins renovated into a pleasant green park. Further to the north, national parks contain beautiful waterfalls, wonderful scenery and plenty of wildlife. The Sri Nakharin and Khao Laem dams have formed huge reservoirs with raft-houses lining the shores.
Lop Buri
Lop Buri is where many significant historical artifacts and prehistoric settlements have been discovered. The town's main Khmer monuments are Phra Prang Sam Yot and Prang Khaek. Wat Phra Si Mahathat is one of the best examples of Khmer’s artwork left in Thailand. The most magnificent attraction is Narai Ratchaniwet Palace, built in the late 17th century when King Narai decided to make Lop Buri his second capital. To tourists, the city is known as the land of monkeys, with an annual feast for monkeys as one of the most talked about tourist events.
