State Railway of Thailand also organizes one or two day economy tours to various destinations on weekends and holidays. Schedules of railways can be obtained from Bangkok's Hua Lamphong main railway station. Train tickets of all categories can be purchased 90 days in advance at the principle stations and at the Advance Booking Office at Hua Lamphong Station or contact the relevant stations in the provinces.
Rail travel in Thailand is the third transport option with convenient routes on the main northern and southern lines and to the Northeast. Train journeys in Thailand are efficient, inexpensive and comfortable by Asian standards. An extensive rail network serves Thailand using Bangkok as its hub. The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) operates four train routes - Northern, Northeastern, Eastern and Southern lines. Domestic express trains include first, second, and third class carriages. Slower trains used on shorter routes can only have third-class seating. Trains in Thailand are classified as Special Express, which is the fastest, then Express, Rapid and Ordinary. Austria Vacation Tours
First-class carriages are available on Express and the Special Express, which have individual, air-conditioned cabins.
Second-class carriages have individual seats which convert into curtained-off beds and a choice of fans or air-conditioning.
