Wildlife, Whales, Water and Wine

DAY 1 - ARRIVE CHRISTCHURCH
On arrival in Christchurch,`The Garden City', you will be met by our local representative for either a private transfer to your hotel or collection of your rental car.

DAY 2 - CHRISTCHURCH - KAIKOURA
Travel through North Canterbury before turning towards the coast to Kaikoura.This afternoon,enjoy a Whale Watch experience by boat (weather permitting).Here you will have the opportunity to view the magnificent Sperm Whale as well as New Zealand's own tiny Hectors Dolphin,Fur Seals and the Royal Albatross. (B)

DAY 3 - KAIKOURA - BLENHEIM
Travel north towards Blenheim today. This afternoon as an optional perhaps visit a few of the local wineries. Cost for optional winery visits not included. (B)

DAY 4 - BLENHEIM - PICTON - WELLINGTON
Travel to Picton and leave the Marlborough Sounds with its sparkling clear waters and lush forests before you cross Cook Strait,which separates the North and South Islands of New Zealand. (B)

DAY 5 - WELLINGTON - NAPIER
Travel onto Palmerston North,famous for its agricultural university.Then cross the Takapau Plains and through the Manawatu Gorge onto the `Art Deco City'of Napier This afternoon, discover four boutique wineries,along with fine handcrafted Red and White Premium and Reserve medal winning wines. (B)

DAY 6 - NAPIER - ROTORUA
Travel north to reach Taupo,home of New Zealand's largest lake.Depart Taupo and continue north via Wairakei Geothermal area before travelling through the Kaingaroa forest,one of the largest man made forests in the world to reach the `Thermal City'of Rotorua. (B)

DAY 7 - ROTORUA
Visit Te Puia Thermal Reserve to see boiling mudpools and roaring geysers.Following this visit Paradise Valley Springs to see New Zealand's trout,birds and wildlife before continuing to the Agrodome for a New Zealand farm show featuring sheep dog demonstrations, cow milking and an introduction to the stars of our sheep industry. The afternoon is at leisure. (B)

DAY 8 - ROTORUA - WAITOMO - AUCKLAND
Travel over the forested Mamaku Ranges to reach Waitomo.Enjoy a guided tour of the world famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves including an underground boat ride viewing the millions of glow worms on the cavern roof.On completion continue through the fertile Waikato area to reach Auckland - `The City of Sails'.

DAY 9 - DEPARTURE DAY
