Maldives
a dream destination is located southwest of Sri Lanka along the equator.
Because of the influence of the equator the climate here is generally warm
and humid with sun shining throughout the year. The temperature comes down
during the monsoons, however the average annual temperature here is between
25-30 degree celcius. The time here is 5hr ahead of GMT.
Maldives consists of 1,190 coral islands which are arranged in rings and
rows and continue to daze the tourists. Of these 87 islands have been
developed for the tourists, 202 islands are inhabited by locals while the
rest are not inhabited. These islands form an archipelago of 26 major
atolls.
Tourists can indulge in various water sports, discover dazzling underwater
coral gardens, dive, windsurf, water ski or go parasailing. Tourists can
also move around this paradise, cruise around the atolls, revel in the
scenic surroundings or simply gaze at the stars at night from the Dhonis.
GETTING THERE
Tourists can reach this beautiful place by landing at Male international
airport which is the only international gateway to this last paradise. From
the airport the tourists can reach their destinations or resorts by availing
the dhonis and launches.
ATTRACTIONS
Resort Islands : Tourists can have an Island entirely to themselves
as a home where they can pamper themselves with all the facilities and
services offered by the resort. All the islands have quite, peaceful, white
sandy beaches, a short walk from their place of stay.
Cruising : Those who want to discover the secrets of the Ocean can
avail the live-aboards from 3 cabin sailing boats to 75 cabin cruise ship
which cruise across the atolls.
Diving and Snorkeling : Tourists who are looking for adventure can
dive and snorkel to experience and discover the treasure of the underwater
world. The aquatic species will fascinating enough to indulge in the play
everyday.
A visit to Male :Male is the capital of Maldives and can be
considered as the smallest capitals in the world. Attractions in Male
include The Islamic Centre, Hukuru Miskiy, Sultan Park and the National
Museum, Jumhooree Maidan (Republic square)

Windsurfing : Apart from professional windsurfers, large waist deep
water lagoons are ideal place to start windsurfing for the beginners. Almost
all resorts have schools to teach this and other water sports.
Snorkeling : Unless you wear a mask and pair of fins and go under
water to discover the aquatic treasure your trip to this beautiful Island
remains incomplete.
Water skiing : tourists can avail the speed boats and ski's to
experience this thrilling sport.
Parasailing :To experience this you need to be adventurous enough as
this gives you a beautiful aerial view of your surroundings.
