There are a plethora of beaches in Athens to enjoy the sun and sand. Numerous beaches in Athens and in the peninsula of Attica. All the beaches of Athens are well located and systematically scattered with prominent locations of the locale. Vouliagmeni, Varkiza, Kavouri, Glyfada. Alimos are most popular beaches positioned near to the centre of Athens. The beaches are all on the coast line of the south suburbs of Athens. These beach can be reached by trams or by hiring a taxi (until Voula) or by bus.
The east coast of Attica is festooned with the sea resorts and fabulous beaches that are very popular among the Athenians. Marathon, Rafina, Nea Makri, Agios Andreas, Porto Rafti, Loutsa and Sounio teemed at the southernmost peak of Attica provide a leisurely and picturesque vacation. Piraeus the port of Athens with its stunning marinas in Zea, Kastella and Mikrolimano, are the breathtaking coastal areas of Peiraiki.
