Guilin is said to be founded in 214 BC
and though the town is not developed, but it is a modern, clean and
organized place to spend a day exploring several smaller hills within its
confines. Guilin is the ultimate destination for a small boat trip on the
picturesque Li River which is flanked on both shores by limestone mountains.
Most cruises last a day with lunch included and the normal end point is the
small town of Yangshuo, where one can rent bicycles to ride through the
countryside. Yangshuo is considered to be a better place to stay than Guilin
The marvel of the limestone crags can be witnessed within Guilin itself
where one can visit the Seven tar Park which has caves and a zoo featuring
the exotic Pandas. All in all this is an exciting place to visit in China.
